- A home inspection to the ASHI standards and practices as seen here
- An electrical evaluation of all power and lighting systems including the main service by a Master Electrician
How Do I perform My Electrical Inspections?
The National Electrical Code, NEC, is updated every 3 years and as of July 1st 2011 Minnesota will be enforcing the 2011 version of the NEC on new construction. Existing homes do not have to comply with all the 2011 NEC standards.
- I am familiar with the electrical codes since 1972 and know what was required when your house was built
- I will open a sample number of readily accessible joint boxes, switches and outlets to inspect correct wiring methods.
- I will remove the cover of the main electrical panel for inspection.
- I will evaluate the size of your electrical main service to make sure it is adequate size for you home.
- This electrical evaluation does not include low voltage wiring, cable TV, security and phone wiring
- I will inspect wiring methods used in your home to enusre that they meet NEC standards.
- I will list the violations to the NEC that were not installed correctly and may create a hazard.
- I will evaluate the electrical system and make recommendations to bring the house up to NEC standards.
- I will list limitations of the inspection
